How to get there (Public Transport):
For live information about the status of the trains, please check the DB liveauskunft.
To get to the Golm train station (Golm Bahnhof) from Potsdam main train station (Potsdam Hbf), you can take the regional trains RB21 (direction S+U Gesundbrunnen Bhf), RB22 (direction Königs Wusterhausen via Flughafen BER-Terminal 1-2) or RB23 (direction Golm). The travel time from Potsdam is approximately 10 min.
From central Berlin, RB23 will bring you directly to Golm train station with a 30-40 min travel time. RB23 runs via Berlin Alexanderplatz, Friedrichstraße, Hauptbahnhof, Zoologischer Garten, Charlottenburg, Wannsee and Potsdam Hbf every hour during peak times. Alternatively, the train RE1 (direction Magdeburg or Brandenburg) or the S-Bahn (S7) can be taken to Potsdam Hbf. From there, the connecting trains to Golm are RB21 or RB22 (see above, transit time 5-10 minutes).
From northern Berlin and Berlin-Spandau, the RB21 (direction Potsdam Hbf) will take you to Golm train station directly via the Brandenburg countryside (travel time approximately 40 min).
From BER Airport you can reach Golm train station directly with the regional train RB22. The train runs every hour and the journey to Golm station takes only 30 minutes.
From Golm Bahnhof, it is a 10-minute walk to the institute. Please see the Potsdam Science Park map for directions.
From Potsdam Hbf and city centre, it is also possible to take the bus lines 605 or 695 (ca. 30-minute travel time). The buses stop directly at the Max Planck Campus, a very short walk to the institute. Please disembark at the stop Science Park West, Golm. The exact timetables can be found on the website of the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Authority (VBB).
Links to DB website, Ticket App:
If you come from central Berlin, buy an ABC ticket. This includes central Berlin and the surrounding area, Potsdam and Golm.
If you come from BER airport and take the RB22 train directly to Golm station, a BC ticket will suffice. If you take the RB23 train from the airport and pass through central Berlin, you need an ABC ticket.
The ABC and BC tickets can also be bought at the airport.
We recommend you to install the BVG App, which enables you to look up connections in the Berlin-Potsdam-Golm area. Also, the App has an online ticket function.
