John Bothwell

John Bothwell is a Reader (Assoc. Prof.) in Bioenergy at the University of Durham, where he works on the evolution, systematics, and biotechnological applications of seaweeds.  John's DPhil in Biochemistry was awarded from Oxford University in 2000 and between 2000-2007 he held postdoctoral research fellowships in Cambridge and the Marine Biological Association (Plymouth), taking a year off in 2002-2003 to play professional rugby.  From 2009-2012, he held a Lectureship at Queen’s University Belfast and moved to Durham in 2013.
